Soy Gourmet is a great way to search and find restaurants in Chile. You can search for restaurants by type of cuisine, price and location and view the results on a Google Map.

Registered users of Soy Gourmet can rate individual restaurants and leave comments. Registered users also receive regular promotional offers.

Chile Taxi Prices on Google Maps

Taximetro

This Spanish language taxi fare calculator uses Google Maps to help you work out the likely cost of a taxi journey in a number of cities around the world. Currently the map works in Santiago and Valparaiso, Chile, Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Cordoba, Argentina and in Madrid and Barcelona in Spain.

To set your starting point you can click on the first green map marker and then on the map. Then click on the second map marker and then on the map to set your destination. You can also use the text input areas to add your starting and finishing point.

When you are happy with your journey the map will show your route and the likely cost of your taxi journey will be displayed in the map sidebar.

My Map of Chile Roads - Post Earthquake

This Google My Map aims to help Chileans keep up-to-date with road closures in the country after this week's earthquake.

You can help keep the map up-to-date by Tweeting any road information to #caminoschile. The map's developer says that you need to include date information in order to help keep the map current.

Green markers on the map indicate roads without problems. Yellow are roads that are passable but with great caution. Red indicates roads that are closed.

Paniko has put together this Google My Map, called Mapa Comercio Activo, to show the locations of supermarkets that are still operating in Chile after the earthquake.

The map is set as open collaboration, so anyone can add open stores to the map.

Maps of the Chile Earthquake -Updated

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Chile about 115km (70 miles) north-east of the city of Concepcion and 325km south-west of the capital, Santiago.

Ushahidi Chile

Ushahidi has produced this Google Maps mashup to track the latest news and incidents related to the Chile earthquake.

The map reports incidents such as collapsed roads and buildings to try and provide as much up-to-date news for Haitian citizens as possible. It is possible to submit information to the map by completing a short form.

Ushahidi have also integrated Google's Person Finder gadget and a live Twitter stream of news from Chile.

Real Time Tools Earthquake Map

The Google Maps for Flash API mashup uses data from the USGS to show the latest earthquakes around the world.

The site uses different sized red circles on the map to show the scale of earthquake activity at different locations. If you roll over the red circles details about the magnitude of earthquake and the time of measurement is given.

Chile Earthquake Tweets

Mibazaar has put together this real-time Twitter map showing the latest messages about the Chile earthquake. Currently the map is displaying Tweets from around the Santiago area, with an option to view messages from Hawaii, which is currently under a Tsunami warning.

This map shows recent earthquakes around the world. It also includes the latest earthquake news. The map uses different coloured map markers to show the strength of different earthquakes.

This mapplet plots the past week of earthquakes around the world, showing the location, time and magnitude. Each earthquake includes a link to the USGS earthquake website for more information.

This map uses the Google Earth browser plug-in with the USGS's KML of the past 7 days' earthquakes.

This Google Earth browser plug-in tool also works with other KML's. Just replace the KML address in your browser address bar to view other KML's in the plug-in.

Chile Google Maps Mashup Round-Up

Chile Maps

Chile Maps is a location and route sharing map for Chile. Users of the site can map their trips in Chile or just add their favourite locations via Google Maps.

All of the uploaded routes and locations can be downloaded from the site in KML format. Currently the site doesn't have many mapped locations but hopefully this will change once the site gains more registered members.

Cajeros

Cajeros is a website designed to help Chileans find ATM machines. Users can search the map by state (Comuna) and the map returns the locations of ATM machines in the area.

Each ATM machine is displayed on the map with the logo of the bank it serves. The map dynamically loads the nearest ATM machines so it is also possible to search by panning the map.

Farmacias
From the same developer as the Cajeros map comes this Google Maps mashup showing the location of pharmacies in Chile. Again users can search the map by state or by panning the map.

The results of each search are displayed on the map and listed in the map sidebar. The information window for each pharmacy displays the postal address.
