Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs is a great application that allows you to view your GPS tracks using Google Maps and the Google Earth browser plug-in.
Using Breadcrumbs you can create map based visualisations of your GPS tracks and include geotagged photographs and videos. The application includes automatic geotagging of your photos and videos and an easy to use editing tool that enables you to correct GPS points. It is also possible to add information and markers to illustrate interesting points on your tracks.
Completed tracks can be shared via a Breadcrumbs public page for each track and through direct integration with Facebook.

Route Sharing with Google Maps
TourWerk
TourWerk is a German language route sharing website. Users of the site can upload or download running, hiking, biking routes and view them on Google Maps.
The site uses Google Maps to show the location of all shared routes. The routes are shown on the map using map markers that reflect the type of route uploaded (a bike marker for a biking route, a hiker marker for walking routes etc.).
If you select a route from the map you will then be taken to that route's own dedicated page. Here the route is shown on a Google Map, alongside a description of the route and an elevation chart.

Virtual Exercising with Google Maps
RunSaturday
RunSaturday is a website to find and share your hiking, jogging and biking routes. Like all the best route and trail sharing sites RunSaturday uses Google Maps to allow you to browse the world for tracks and routes near your location.
RunSaturday allows you to view individual routes on a dedicated Google Map and lets you view a number of graphs, such as elevation charts and pace and heart rate charts. You can also use a wide range of GPS enabled tracking devices and phones to log your routes and upload them to RunSaturday.
For me however the stand out feature of RunSaturday is its use of the Google Earth browser plugin. For many of the routes uploaded to RunSaturday you can actually visualise the trail virtually with Google Earth directly from your browser.
I think this means I can now get all the exercise I need from the comfort of my own home - virtual exercise does count right?

Route Planning with Google Maps
Ride with GPS
Ride with GPS is a recreational route sharing community for cyclists, motorcyclists, runners, hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone else who is involved in a route-oriented sport. Using Ride with GPS users can map out a route on Google Maps and create a cue-sheet before going out on a ride. It is even possible to export the route as a TCX/GPX file to a GPS unit.
After a ride users can upload their log file which can contain heart rate, pedal speed (cadence) and wattage information, and Ride with GPS will graph and display the trip.
Mapping a route using Ride with GPS is very easy. All you need to do is click on the map to start and then click on the route you wish to take. As you add points Ride with GPS updates the directions in the left-hand side panel and the elevation chart beneath the map.
Ride with GPS also has a number of other useful tools for planning your route, such as a 'Follow Roads' option, which will snap the route to follow the nearest roads. You can even change the colour of the line of your route on the map.

Create Bike Trails with Google Maps

BikeRouteToaster.com is a bike route creation tool for planning rides. Courses are created using Google Maps and can then be downloaded to GPS with the Garmin Communicator Plugin.
When creating routes you have the option to use auto-routing, so that your track will automatically snap to the nearest roads and paths. It is possible to add 'course points' markers to aid navigation at junctions.
Elevation data is automatically generated and you can view an elevation profile of your completed route. Time data is also automatically generated for use with Virtual Partner. Distance, Total Ascent/Descent, and estimated time are continuously updated while creating a course.

A numbered marker clustering solution shows the number of tours available at each location. Map markers and the list of tours in the map sidebar are loaded dynamically when the map is panned and zoomed.
Each individual tour marker includes a 'display on the map' link. licking on the link loads the track of the tour on the map.

Track Yourself on Google Maps
trackr!
trackr! is a website designed to let you show your current location on Google Maps via GPS. To use trackr! you need a mobile phone with GPS capabilities or a GPS receiver. The site currently works with Windows Mobile 5 and 6 (PocketPC and Smartphone), Java phones with support for MIDP2.0 and the Blackberry.
The website also lets you track your friends. It is possible to create 'geofences' that allow you to receive an alert when a user enters and/or leaves a predefined area. This can be used, for example, to receive an alert when someone comes within a range of 5 miles of your current location.
