Rusvatobus have partnered with Moscow's transport authority to provide an English guide to the city's public transport system on Google Maps. Using the map it is possible to enter your starting and finishing destination. The map then displays the best route you can take using public transport.

The route is displayed on the map and listed in detail under the map.

The Sarkozy Live Tracking Google Map

Le Sarko Map

If it is good enough for the Queen of England then it is good enough for the president of the French Republic. Nicolas Sarkozy is now being tracked on Google Maps thanks to our friends at 20Minutes.fr and Map Channels.

20Minutes.fr have worked with Map Channels to produce a Google Map that shows the future planned appearances and visits of the French President. The location of each engagement is shown by a map marker in the form of Sokozy's smiling face and the dates are listed in the map sidebar.

Touring the Alps on Google Maps

Alpintouren is an outdoor sports website with a database of over 8000 GPS tours for hikers, climbers, mountain-bikers and skiers. The site has long featured Google Maps on each dedicated tour webpage. Now it also has an overall Google Map displaying the over 8000 tours on the site.

In order to display such a large number of markers on one map Alpintouren have devised their own clustering solution. The site have also designed their own custom markers so that users can differentiate between the various type of tracks available.

More Indian Cities Get Google Transit

Google Maps has added transit information to a number of Indian cities.

In Kolkata Google Transit can now plan trips on the Kolkata Metro. In Hyderabad you can plan your journey on the Hyderabad Multi Modal Transit System. Delhi has transit information for Delhi Metro Rail and in Chennai you can plan your journey on the Chennai MRTS.



India Rail Info

If you want information about India's huge rail network (which transports an amazing 8 million passengers every day) you should consult India Rail Info. The site's database seems to contain every station and train route in India.

The site shows timetables for each route and train on the network. When you click on an individual train in the timetable a link to a Google Map appears. The map shows the route of the train alongside the train's planned stops. It is even possible to get information about the train's current status.

Indian Trains

Indian Trains shows the approximate location of trains which are currently running on the Indian railway system. It is possible to show the location of any train by simply entering the train's number and pressing 'go'.

If you want to test the map you can find train numbers at erail.in. The location of the train is shown on the map via a red marker. Clicking on the marker reveals the time when the marker was plotted. The location is automatically refreshed every 2 minutes.

Bangalore Live Bus Tracking

This site is tracking buses of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation live on a Google Map. The buses all carry GPS units so the map is able to update locations once a minute.

It is possible to track all BMTC buses at once or select an individual bus to track. If you click on a bus map marker you can get the route information and speed of the bus. There is also a mobile phone version of this map, so it is possible to work how long you will have to wait for a bus when you are out and about in Bangalore.

Crash of the Airbus A310

Google Earth Tour of Airbus A310

French news site 20minutes.fr has created a Google Earth tour of the flight of Airbus A310 which crashed in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday. The tour uses Google's embedded tour player which means that it is possible to embed the tour in any website or blog.

There were 66 French nationals on board the plane, which was flying from the Yemeni capital Sanaa to the Comoros, and the French transport ministry say the plane which crashed had been banned from France because of "irregularities". 20minutes.fr have asked readers to respond to the appropriateness of showing the plane's last flight by leaving a comment on their blog.
